The Lake View Bend Trail is a great choice for those looking for a relatively short (1.5-mile) and easy hike with enough diversity to make it interesting. The trail parallels the Grand Glaize Arm of the Lake of the Ozarks for about a mile. This offers excellent views of the lake and the bluffs running right along the trail. The remainder of the trail passes through dense woods like those seen on most trails in the state park.
Other than the very beginning and end of the trail, the trail is relatively easy, with only minor changes in grade.
The trail isn't suitable for mountain biking. There are too many hazards on the section running parallel to the lake, with a sharp drop-off on one side being the most serious.
The section along the lake isn't suitable for running, either. There are too many tripping and falling hazards. The western half of the trail that passes through the woods is fine for trail running.
This trail would be fine for children ages ten and over. Younger children would have a tough time on the rugged eastern half of the trail.
